Filling A Void

A view from deep inside a hole, looking up at the light from the outside

Everyone has encountered times where there is a void or a feeling of emptiness within themselves. The feeling of the void comes in many shapes and sizes. For instance, you make a purchase of a new car, I did not say a first car, that feeling is completely different. Buying a new car, excitement sets in and then at some point, things creeps in, buyer's remorse. A void or an empty feeling, some call it buyer's remorse, did I make the right decision? It is more than that. It is a superficial void that can only be filled by one thing. What was once brand new gets old as days pass. The one thing there is never remorse for and always fills a void…Jesus.

Do not love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.

– Hebrews 13:5

Another translation says, “Do not be obsessed with getting more material things. Be relaxed with what you have. Since God assured us, “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,” we can boldly quote, God is there, ready to help; I am fearless no matter what. Who or what can get to me?”

If you do not like the feeling that emptiness gives you, then fill the void with the one who promises to never leave you empty or lonely.

Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.

– Deuteronomy 31:6

Questions to Ponder?

  1. What things make you feel empty?

  2. At what times do you feel most empty?

*List them and Pray that God would exchange the emptiness for fullness.

Thoughts for the day!

Empty or full: which will you choose? Make it your purpose for the day, week or month and see how your mindset changes the way you feel?

Remember He makes it happen, you make it count.
