Seeds That Benefit

Don’t be selfish; don’t live to make a good impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself. Don’t think only about your own affairs, but be interested in others too, and what they are doing.

– Philippians 2:3-4

It has been said that we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. Having the correct perspective on life and the things that really matter, will not only be of benefit to you but to others as well. How lonely would life be without helping others. Even those who are selfish and are only out for themselves, the ones that live life as if it is only about them, need others. Yes, they do, otherwise who would they flaunt their wealth at, themselves? Hardly. How much fun would that be for them? Think about that for a moment. How boring would life be if they sat down with themselves and said, “Hey me, look what I have and what I have achieved.” How dull and useless. We need each other. We need to be about sowing seeds that benefit others as well.

Here is a novel thought! Success in life has nothing to do with what you gain or accomplish for yourself. It is what you do for others that make life a success. People in leadership need to understand that the higher up you go on the corporate ladder, the more you must sacrifice. It is true. People who think they have given up nothing to get where they are, are naive to the fact that at the very least they had to have given up some of their time.

 Questions to ask

  1. Do you sow seeds that benefit others?

  2. Do you pursue things that have lasting benefit?

  3. What are the things that matter most to you in life?

  4. Do you enjoy giving of your time, talent, gifts, and wealth?

Thoughts for the day!

Take time to evaluate your life, make time to take inventory of the things you have. Take those things you don’t really need or have time for and see if there are others that could benefit from them. Once you do, don’t take the easy road, and just give them away, first try to take part in directly distributing those items to others. If all else fails, then give them to a charitable organization they can distribute them freely. Not for resale! The seeds you sow must benefit others as well.

Always remember, He makes it happen, you make it count!

Blessings!
