Spiritual Hunger
“But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me the seal of his approval.”
– John 6:27
God allowed the Israelites to experience hunger in the wilderness so they would learn to rely on Him. Their physical hunger was a lesson in dependence on God’s Word. Just as God provided manna, He provides for our spiritual hunger with His Word, teaching us to trust in Him for daily food and for His guidance in every area of life.
“Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.”
– Deuteronomy 8:3
Thoughts to ponder
Jesus urges us to focus on what truly matters: eternal life, not just the temporary, material concerns. While food nourishes the body, remember it is temporary.
We should seek spiritual nourishment that leads to eternal life through faith in Christ. Jesus challenges us to prioritize our priorities, placing God’s kingdom first in our hearts and minds.

We know we have eternal life if we believe that Jesus is an equal part of the Trinity. Through faith believing the Jesus died, was buried and that He rose. That Jesus was, Is and Is to come. Are we satisfied with just knowing we have eternal life?
Are we pressing towards the higher calling in our lives?
What is the true cost of our belief?
