A Full Plate

Someone holding a lens up to a view of a river

Whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them. I did not withhold my heart from any pleasure. For my heart rejoiced in all my labor; and this was my reward from all my labor. Then I looked on all the works that my hands had done on the labor in which I had toiled; and indeed, all that was vanity and grasping for the wind. There was no profit under the sun.

Ecclesiastes 2:10-11

Solomon the king of Israel had much, but it cost him plenty.

Did Solomon learn from his mistakes?
Can we learn from the mistakes he made?

Solomon had so much on his plate. A plate that he filled, he tried to satisfy himself, however it was vanity. Empty, so to speak. You and I like Solomon at times reach for too much, but all we get is an empty feeling. Have you been there?

If you go after too many things at the same time, you’ll never really become satisfied. You won’t fully grasp all that there is to offer and for all the right reasons. You will inevitably miss out on something.

 Questions to ponder

  1. Do you really have a focus?

  2. Is your focus consistent with your priorities?

  3. Do you have the time to complete your “so called” priorities?

  4. Do you have a way of determining your focus?

Thoughts for the day!

It is so vital to have a way of determining your focus. If you do, then you will have better success. Know your limitations. Know what skills and competencies you possess. Surround yourself with someone or people that will tell you the truth about what you’re trying to accomplish. This places you in a position of accountability. The Lord never meant for us to go it alone, so don’t!

Declare over yourself…I am competent to complete my “so called” priorities

Always remember, He makes it happen, you make it count!

Blessings!
