A Matter of Principle

The sun shining through trees in a forest

But the path of the just is like the shining sun that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is like darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.

Proverbs 4:18-19

Absolutes—people have shaded them and colored them gray when they are black and white only. Jesus insisted that some things are true, and some are false. Some things are right, and some are wrong. Some things are good, and some are bad.

Jesus even insisted that there is only one way to be reconciled to God, through faith in Him. That is something that we consider to be tough and dogmatic. A lack of absolutes will always lead to trouble. People will say, I didn’t think I was doing anything wrong. We will even say things like, everyone else is doing it.

Questions to ask

  1. What are the motives of your heart?

  2. Are things right or wrong, black, or white?

  3. Do you have a set of personal core values that govern your life?

  4. Do you realize that the daily decisions you make have a far greater effect than just for the moment?

Thoughts for the day!

The first step into compromise is a step in the wrong direction. Guard your heart, your motives, and your intentions because they really reveal who you are. Godly principles give you clear vision to see the important things that matter, and the things others cannot see. Insist on the right way and live a life that is consistent with biblical principles. Consider writing your personal core values and then live by them.

Always remember, He makes it happen, you make it count!

Blessings!
