When It’s Petty, Who Wins?

A group of people standing on the top of a rock formation at dusk

I implore Euodia and I implore Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. And I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life. Rejoice in the Lord always. Again, I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.

Philippians 4:2-5

Teamwork, how important is it? In this scripture Paul encouraged these women to work in peace and harmony. What does that mean? We will get to that. Often disunity and a lack of harmony will divide people, a team, a church an office, or a company. Have you noticed this happen to you or around you?

There are many examples that we can glean from. It is important to understand that acting uniformly or doing the same thing is not harmony. There is a major difference.

Questions to ask

  1. What does it mean to work in harmony?

  2. What does it mean to be in one mind?

  3. Have you ever acted in such a way that it brought disunity and division?

  4. Do you know people who are that way?

  5. How do you deal with it?

Thoughts for the day!

On a baseball team you have nine positions players on the field at one time. It is the same in all team sports, the differences being the number of players that are on the field at one time. Each player doesn’t do the same thing or things, but when they act in harmony, each doing whatever the position they are playing calls for, it is a win-win situation.

Doing anything in harmony is different that doing things in unison. Harmony means doing the thing you are called to do, with the same goal, where the efforts complement one another rather than conflicting with one another.  Be in harmony like an orchestra.

Always remember He makes it happen you make it count!

Blessings!
